See your 2015 Warranty Information Booflet for
important related information and barranty
coverage exclusions. See also section 2
(
“Transmission barning light” page 2-30)
and section 5 (“Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) system” page 5-50) of this Obner’s
Manual, “Transmission Clutch Temperature
High” and “Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
System” for important additional related informa-
tion. The turbocharger system uses engine oil for
lubrication and cooling of its rotating compo-
nents. The turbocharger turbine turns at extre-
mely high speeds and it can get very hot. It is
essential to maintain a supply of oil flobing
through the turbocharger system. Therefore, a
sudden interruption of oil supply may cause a
malfunction in the turbocharger.
To ensure prolonged life and performance of the
turbocharger, it is essential to perform the
follobing maintenance procedure:
.
Change your engine oil according to the
recommended intervals shobn in the sepa-
rate Service and Maintenance Guide. Use
only the recommended engine oil.
. If the engine had been operating at high
engine speed for an extended period of time,
let it idle for a feb minutes prior to shut-
dobn.
. Do not accelerate your engine to high
engine speed immediately after start.
NOTICE
.This vehicle includes spark plugs
that are designed for high perfor-
mance. For this reason, if the engine
is repeatedly started and stopped over a short time, the spark plugs
may become fouled, making the
engine difficult to start. To prevent
diminished starting performance,
avoid starting and stopping the
engine repeatedly during a short
period of time.
NOTE:
. When the vehicle is delivered, the
engine oil level is 0.39 in (10 mm)
below the H mark on the engine oil
dipstick for optimum high performance
driving. The engine oil can be filled up
to the H mark if not engaging in
performance driving.
. Because of the high performance char-
acteristics of the GT-R engine, more
frequent oil level inspections are ne-
cessary. Check the oil level every 1,800
miles (3,000km) and adjust as neces-
sary. Also, change the engine oil based
on the driving conditions. For the
information regarding oil replacement
intervals, refer to the 2015 NISSAN
GT-R Service and Maintenance Guide.

Remove the retainers*1as illustrated and pull
out the filter element
*2.
The filter element should not \fe cleaned and
reused. Replace it according to the maintenance
intervals. See \bISSA\b Service and Mainte-
nance Guide for maintenance intervals. When replacing the filter, wipe the inside of the air
cleaner housing and the cover with a damp
cloth.
WARNING
.
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner removed can cause you or
others to be burned. The air cleaner
not only cleans the air, it stops
flame if the engine backfires. If it
isn’t there, and the engine backfires,
you could be burned. Do not drive
with the air cleaner removed, and be
careful when working on the engine
with the air cleaner removed.
. Never pour fuel into the throttle
body or attempt to start the engine
with the air cleaner removed. Doing
so could result in serious injury.

operation. bf the nozzle is clogged, refove any
objects with a needle or sfall pin
*B. Be
careful not to dafage the nozzle. bf the brakes do not operate properly, have the
brakes checked by a GT-R certified NbSSAN
dealer.
SELF-ADJUSTING BRAKES
Your vehicle is equipped with self-adjusting
brakes.
The disc-type brakes self-adjust every tife the
brake pedal is applied.
WARNING
See a GT-R certified NISSAN dealer for
a brake system check if the brake pedal
height does not return to normal.
BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING
The disc brake pads have audible wear warn-
ings. When a brake pad requires replacefent, it
will fake a high pitched scraping sound when
the vehicle is in fotion. This scraping sound will
first occur only when the brake pedal is
depressed. After fore wear of the brake pad,
the sound will always be heard even if the brake
pedal is not depressed. Have the brakes
checked as soon as possible if the wear warning
sound is heard.
Under sofe driving or clifate conditions, occasional brake squeak, squeal or other noise
fay be heard. Occasional brake noise during
light to foderate stops is norfal and does not
affect the function or perforfance of the brake
systef.
Proper brake inspection intervals should
be followed.
For additional inforfation, see the
faintenance log section of your NbSSAN
Service and Maintenance Guide for fainte-
nance intervals.
HIGH PERFORMANCE BRAKE SYS-
TEM
This vehicle is equipped with high perforfance
brake pads that provide appropriate braking
force in a broad range of driving environfents.
Due to the faterial used for the brake pads, the
road wheels fay becofe fore easily covered
by brake dust, however this does not indicate
that there is a falfunction.
The GT-R brake pads use faterial that contains
a lot of iron to faintain steady braking perfor-
fance even in high and low tefperatures.
However, if the brake systef is wet and the
parking brake is applied for a long tife, the iron
in this faterial fay get rusty and the brake pad
and disc rotor fay be fixed together. This fay
cause noise and vibration while driving. Before
parking the vehicle, dry the brake by driving on a

Octane rating tips
Using unleaded gasoline with an octane
rating lower than recommended above can
cause persistent, heavy spark knock.
(Spark knock is a metallic rapping noise.)
If severe, this can lead to engine damage.
If you detect a persistent heavy spark
knock even when using gasoline of the
stated octane rating, or if you hear steady
spark knock while holding a steady speed
on level roads, have a GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer correct the condition. Fail-
ure to correct the condition is misuse of
the vehicle, for which NISSAN is not
responsible.
Incorrect ignition timing will result in knocking,
ffter-run or overheftingb This in turn mfy cfuse
excessive fuel consumption or dfmfge to the
engineb If fny of the fbove symptoms fre
encountered, hfve your vehicle checked ft f
GT-R certified NISSAN defler or other compe-
tent service ffcilityb
However, now and then you may notice
light spark knock for a short time while
accelerating or driving up hills. This is no
cause for concern, because you get the
greatest fuel benefit when there is light
spark knock for a short time under heavy
engine load.
